Thornton, Lola, 71 of Tampa, Fl., born May 10^th, 1940 and departed this life Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Originally from Indianapolis, IN, she moved to Tampa with her family in 1951. A graduate of Hillsborough High School in 1958 she was in the National Honor Society and lettered in Volleyball. She worked in the metals industry for over 35 years and had recently retired. A loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother her life was dedicated to her family. She is survived by her children who she loved dearly Carol (Louie) Phillips and David (Michelle) Thornton of Smithfield, VA.; mother, Marcella Humbert;  siblings, David (Deloris) Humbert of Longwood, CA., Sharon (Merritt) Kreuzinger, Pat (Richard) Marpes and Marcia (Dan) Oreskovich; grand-children and apple of her eyes, Austin, Alec, George, Kenny, Kevin and great-grandson Ian; also loved by many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her father William Humbert Jr. and niece Marianne Slike. Jane A. (Scaer) Custer

Land O Lakes, FL.  Jane Alicia (Scaer) Custer formerly of Convoy, OH, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on December 23, 2011 peacefully with family at home after 4+ years battling colon cancer. Jane will have the best Christmas of anyone on earth. She will have Christmas with Jesus. She was born in Van Wert, Oh. on June 13, 1953 to Fred and the late Velma (Hoverman) Scaer Simpson. On September 15, 1973 she married Rodney D. Custer who survives.

Jane was an active member of Idlewild Baptist Church, Lutz, FL., and Caregiver Coordinator for the Maranatha Adult Bible Fellowship Class, and worked in the Preschool Ministry. She was a Daycare provider both in Ohio and Florida 25 years for a total of about 60 or 70 children.

Jane was preceded in death by her mother Velma (Hoverman) Scaer Simpson.

Besides being survived by her husband of 38+ years, Rodney, she is survived by her 3 children which she loved dearly, Jamie (Ryan) Rase of Troutman, NC., Scott (Jennifer) Custer of Land O Lakes, FL., and Jill (Chris) Waligora of Jacksonville, FL.; her 6 grandchildren for whom she cherished Jordan, Jacey, and Jacob Rase, Grace and Drew Custer, and Chloe Waligora, her father Fred (Joyce) Scaer, her brother Ted (Sharon) Scaer of Convoy, OH, her sister Mary Ann (Jeff) Dunlap of Van Wert, OH, and step sister Alicia (Jack) Dill of Sedalia, OH.
Jane was passionate about her grandchildren and loved children.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 on Friday December. 30, 2011 at Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, FL. The Celebration of Life for Jane will begin at 11am at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial bequests to Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church Preschool Ministry or HPH Hospice.

Vickie L. Hansen of Tampa was born in Americus Georgia, welcomed home, Sunday, October 30, 2011 after a courageous battle with ALS. Vickie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, & friend. Never once during this time did she question “why me”, was dignified & gracious, and always having a smile on her face. She is truly an angel & now above looking down, setting an example to be emulated by others suffering with ALS. She was a proud military spouse, and stood beside, not behind, her husband during his military career. Vickie worked in the banking & health care industries in various administrative positions. She was actively involved in several civic & military clubs, organizations and her church Messiah Lutheran, helping others. Vickie always looked forward to holidays & special occasions, cooking & baking and making others feel special on those days. Her delightful manner and smile made everyone she encountered life brighter. Vickie was preceded in death by father James Hayes & mother Alice Hayes. Thomas Edward Pallatt

Pallatt, Thomas Edward, 70, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida after a sudden illness. Thomas retired to New Port Richey, Florida in 2008, his lifelong dream. He was born in Philadelphia on November 10, 1940 to Helen Smith Pallatt and William Pallatt. Thomas graduated from Frankford High School in 1959. He was married to married to Vance Alexander Pallatt in June, 1969. He lived in Philadelphia, Bensalem, and Skippack, Pennsylvania before moving to New Port Richey, Florida in 2009. He was a Sea Scout, Volunteer Firefighter, avid boater and loved the water. Over the years Thomas was employed by Janney Cylinder, Crane, Honeywell, and Wesco from where he retired in 2005. In retirement he traveled to the Philippines and Vietnam as well as the Western United States.

Thomas is survived by his two daughters: Denise Pallatt Buechner and her husband Christopher Buechner (Bensalem PA), Patricia Pallatt Williams and her husband Walter Todd Williams (Carbondale, CO). His three granddaughters: Morgan Buechner, Kaylie Buechner and Madison Buechner (Bensalem, PA), his two brothers and two sisters: William Pallatt (Victorville, CA), Barbara Pallatt Smith and her husband Robert Smith (Philadelphia, PA), Patricia Pallatt Stich and her husband Thomas Stich (Mansfield, PA), and Richard Pallatt (Toledo, OH), his Aunt Elma Pallatt (Andalusia, PA), and Brother-in-Law Alfred J. DeSimone (Trappe, PA), his friend and companion: Joshua Bernstein (New Port Richey, FL). Thomas was predeceased in death by his sister Madeline “Lyn” Pallatt DeSimone, May 2011.

A memorial service will be held at the Heritage Lake Clubhouse at Heritage Lake 9151 Heritage Lake Blvd, New Port Richey, FL 34655 on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11AM.

Crawford, John Albert, 68 of Trinity, FL. passed away August 3, 2011. Born October 4, 1942 to John T. and Hazel M. Crawford in Indianapolis, In. A former resident of Carmel, In., the 1961 graduate of Broad Ripple High School was a Varsity Baseball and Football player. Following graduation, he became a certified Dental Technician opening Crawford Dental Lab at age 26. John was well respected by all who knew him and enjoyed activities with his children. His passion for golf gave him many lifelong friends. Every golfers dream, a “hole in one,” was celebrated by John on October 6, 2010, at Fox Hollow Golf Club. John also became a strong snow skier. From early ski trips to Michigan and later to Colorado, he taught his children love of the sport.

Surviving John are his loving children, John (Krista), Palm Harbor, Fl., daughter Debbie, Hollywood, Ca., and the best thing he ever did, Ted, Palm Harbor, Fl., sister Sally McCarthy (Bob) Greenwood, IN. Grandsons, Cash and Chase Crawford and several nieces and nephews. He had the privilege of having two wives, Patricia and Andrea.

Angie earned her Associate in Arts degree from the University of Maryland and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida.  She retired in 2010 as the Director of Marketing and Circulation for the Tampa Bay Business Journal.  Her career at the journal spanned twenty five years during which her achievements gained her national acclaim many times from American City Business Journals, Inc. parent company of the Tampa Bay Business Journal.  A viewing will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 12609 Memorial Drive, New Port Richey, FL 34655 from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3 with an opportunity for sharing memorial testimonies at 6:30 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 12708 North Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa, FL 33618  at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, followed by interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Santino Genovese

 Genovese, Santino (Sam), 94, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away last Sunday, July 24^th, 2011.  Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Orazio and Michelle Genovese, his brother Frank, and his sisters Marie Pannitti and Sister Carmela Genovese. .He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Margaret Genovese, whom he married on June 25^th, 1939, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, in the Bronx, NY. Sam worked as a dress cutter, in the New York City for years and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Union.  They spent the majority of their lives together building a strong foundation of love and family, in Bronx, NY, until they moved down here to Palm Harbor, FL, just 7 years ago to enjoy their golden years. In addition to his lovely wife Margaret, he is survived by his son, Robert (Patricia) Genovese, of Naples, FL ; daughter,Patricia Tedeschi of Fort Worth, TX; and  Charles (Carol) Genovese of Tarpon Springs; his ten grandchildren;  and his loving fourteen  Great Grandchildren. 
Santino, was a lover of life, a loved family patriarch and had talent for music, from his earliest years. He was blessed with an extraordinary gift and passion for music and was a member of Local 802 Musicians Union . Santino, played the trumpet  and he blew that horn with all he had and he wasn’t just average, he was exceptional at making sounds of music, via his powerful lungs and artistry.  He performed with notable musicians in the Bronx, all over New York, and throughout New Jersey, as well.  While growing up in Bronx, New York, Santino played for multiple bands, most notably, The Five Shades of Blue, for many years.  He was the principal performer for multiple weddings, parties, and family gatherings, during the golden age big band music.  Santino, had a loving and kind heart, and was a man of faith. We are thankful for being blessed to have known him, loved him and he shared his music with all the people who came into his life.
Although, Santino lived an extremely long and blessed life, it was a short and sudden illness that took him to the heavens.  Up amongst the angles, this talented trumpeter will continue to blow his horn, while sharing his kindness, classic sense of humor, and passion for music for all those who have preceded him. He will be missed but will be kept alive through his music and loving memories he shared with his large family.  The world is a much classier place to have had 94 years with Santino (Sam) Genovese that is for sure!! 
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27 from 5-8 p.m.  at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at North Meadowlawn Cemetery.

SUNGAIL, John P. 72, of Clearwater, died July 17. Born Sept. 2, 1938 in Danville, IL, John was a graduate of Bishop Schlarman High School in Danville, where he was an all-state football champion. He received his bachelors and masters degree from Indiana University in Bloom-ington, where he played football, basketball and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. John started his career as a high school and junior college educator in health and kinesiology. He also coached freshman football at IU and later in Grayslake and Joliet, IL. He left teaching and entered the sales field, where he received many honors during his career. He is survived by his very loving daughter Leslie Sungail of Los Angeles. John was known for his ever positive "sunny" attitude and will be missed by his family and very loving friends. A memorial service will be held at The Oaks of Clear-water, 420 Bay Ave, on Sunday July 24 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady Queen Of Peace church building fund in New Port Richey.

Rawie Haas Sr.

HAAS, Rawie G. Sr. 84, of Tarpon Springs, born Dec. 13, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully in his sleep July 17, 2011. He served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine Corps during WWII. After the war, he married the love of his life, Virginia (Scheuring). They moved to Florida in 1974. He had a lifelong career in construction and in his retirement, he became an award winning painter and wood sculptor. He was a member of the Calusa Carvers Club. Rawie was preceded in death by his parents, Adam E. and Ruth (Rawie) Haas Sr., brother Adam and granddaughter, Rachel. He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs, Virginia; brother, James C. Haas; and sister, Thelma Heinrich; seven children, Rawie Jr (Charleen); Beth Hillegass (Al), Sue Hull (Tom), Christopher (Roxie), Lori Richards (Ralph); Patty Spiekhout (Stephen); Tina Torre (Demi); 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Rawie's love for his family and friends and his good sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. 82, of Trinity, passed away June 23 with her devoted husband, Harold, at her side.  She is survived by their son Mark (Judy) and daughter, Madison, of VA, and their daughter Judy (Norman) Spain and sons, Benjamin and Nathaniel, of KY.   She was born in Sharon, PA, on November 28, 1928 to Katherine S. and Carroll F. Brown.   Dotty is preceded in death by her beloved “Bets”– best friend and loving aunt.  She graduated from Grove City College where she met the love of her life, Harold.  They married on August 24, 1951, and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage. A wonderful mother, Dotty devoted her life to raising her children.  A memorial service will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens on July 2 at 1 p.m.  Close friends are invited to Heritage Springs Country Club for refreshments and reminiscing from 2 to 4. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to American Cancer Society.

Theodore A. Ryczek Jr.

Ryczek, Dr. Theodore A. Jr., 59, of St. Petersburg and Land O’ Lakes, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2011, following a long and valiant battle with cancer. Born May 10, 1952, in Washington D.C., the eldest of five children born to Theodore A. Ryczek Sr. and Carolyn (Dowiak) Ryczek.

‘Dr. Ted’ was engaged in the practice of Optometry for 32 years subsequent to his 1976 graduation, Magna Cum Laude, from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tn. Where he was a Beta Sigma Kappa member and editor of the school newspaper. The last 25 years of his career have been spent in joint practice at Ryczek Eye Associates in St. Petersburg with his brother, ‘Dr. Dennis”, as well as providing excellent care for the patients of Eye Care Optical in New Port Richey and the Super Target Optical in Wesley Chapel. He was a member of both The American and The Florida Optometric Associations.

Ted was devoted son to his surviving parents and a faithful husband to his loving wife, Desa Boyd. In addition he loved and was much loved by his children; Kyle Ryczek (Bailey), Ashley (Chris Monteath) and Robert Ryczek all of New Port Richey, and the children of his wife; Rob and Katie Boyd of Land O’ Lakes. Ted will be fondly remembered by his brother, Dr. Dennis Ryczek (Brooke), and two sisters; Karen (Tom Lakus), and Sharon (Joe Rizzo). He is also survived by four nephews, two beautiful nieces and many cherished extended family members. Ted was greeted in heaven by his predeceased infant brother, Anthony Ryczek.

Scarfogliero, Eleanor, 70, of Tampa, entered into eternal rest on June 4, 2011 after a brief but courageous battle with Leukemia. She was surrounded by her children, family members and friends. Born Eleanor Fiume in Brooklyn, New York, she moved to Tampa with her husband in 2003. She was a kind and generous person who put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a doting grandmother who described her grandchildren as the light of her life. During her life she served as a volunteer to help emotionally handicapped children, a Sunday school teacher, a school crossing guard and in many other capacities for which her church or community were in need. Her compassion was limitless and her love of family boundless. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Gennaro and son Michael. Left to remember her are her son Gennaro, his wife Alexis, her daughter Angela Sawyer and her husband David. Grandchildren Christopher, Mary and Gennaro Nikos, Sisters Eva Daledda and Theresa DiFilippo, Brother Peter Fiume and countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Burchick Sr., John, 85, of New Port Richey, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011.  He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corp 8th Air Force.  John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Beverly; daughter, Deborah; son, John Jr.(LuAnn); daughter, Jeanna Hickey (Tom); 2 grandchildren, Samantha and Alec; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 12 from 5-7 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday April 13 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (727-376-7824).
