HAAS, Rawie G. Sr. 84, of Tarpon Springs, born Dec. 13, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully in his sleep July 17, 2011. He served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine Corps during WWII. After the war, he married the love of his life, Virginia (Scheuring). They moved to Florida in 1974. He had a lifelong career in construction and in his retirement, he became an award winning painter and wood sculptor. He was a member of the Calusa Carvers Club. Rawie was preceded in death by his parents, Adam E. and Ruth (Rawie) Haas Sr., brother Adam and granddaughter, Rachel. He is survived by his wife of 62 yrs, Virginia; brother, James C. Haas; and sister, Thelma Heinrich; seven children, Rawie Jr (Charleen); Beth Hillegass (Al), Sue Hull (Tom), Christopher (Roxie), Lori Richards (Ralph); Patty Spiekhout (Stephen); Tina Torre (Demi); 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Rawie's love for his family and friends and his good sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
