Thornton, Lola, 71 of Tampa, Fl., born May 10th, 1940 and departed this life Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Originally from Indianapolis, IN, she moved to Tampa with her family in 1951. A graduate of Hillsborough High School in 1958 she was in the National Honor Society and lettered in Volleyball. She worked in the metals industry for over 35 years and had recently retired. A loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother her life was dedicated to her family. She is survived by her children who she loved dearly Carol (Louie) Phillips and David (Michelle) Thornton of Smithfield, VA.; mother, Marcella Humbert; siblings, David (Deloris) Humbert of Longwood, CA., Sharon (Merritt) Kreuzinger, Pat (Richard) Marpes and Marcia (Dan) Oreskovich; grand-children and apple of her eyes, Austin, Alec, George, Kenny, Kevin and great-grandson Ian; also loved by many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her father William Humbert Jr. and niece Marianne Slike. Memorial services and Inurnment will be held at 11am, Thursday, Jan 5, 2012 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr. Trinity, Fl. with Pastor Hal Mayer officiating. Family would like to thank LifePath Hospice for their services.
