Theodore A. Ryczek Jr.

Ryczek, Dr. Theodore A. Jr., 59, of St. Petersburg and Land O’ Lakes, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2011, following a long and valiant battle with cancer. Born May 10, 1952, in Washington D.C., the eldest of five children born to Theodore A. Ryczek Sr. and Carolyn (Dowiak) Ryczek.
‘Dr. Ted’ was engaged in the practice of Optometry for 32 years subsequent to his 1976 graduation, Magna Cum Laude, from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tn. Where he was a Beta Sigma Kappa member and editor of the school newspaper. The last 25 years of his career have been spent in joint practice at Ryczek Eye Associates in St. Petersburg with his brother, ‘Dr. Dennis”, as well as providing excellent care for the patients of Eye Care Optical in New Port Richey and the Super Target Optical in Wesley Chapel. He was a member of both The American and The Florida Optometric Associations.
Ted was devoted son to his surviving parents and a faithful husband to his loving wife, Desa Boyd. In addition he loved and was much loved by his children; Kyle Ryczek (Bailey), Ashley (Chris Monteath) and Robert Ryczek all of New Port Richey, and the children of his wife; Rob and Katie Boyd of Land O’ Lakes. Ted will be fondly remembered by his brother, Dr. Dennis Ryczek (Brooke), and two sisters; Karen (Tom Lakus), and Sharon (Joe Rizzo). He is also survived by four nephews, two beautiful nieces and many cherished extended family members. Ted was greeted in heaven by his predeceased infant brother, Anthony Ryczek.
